Green River Community College Marv Nelson Science Learning Center

Scope

After completing the predesign study, the joint team of S.M. Stemper Architects and DLR designed a new Science Center that would accommodate increasing student enrollment and provide accredited science, health science, and teaching programs to meet industry and marketplace demands.

The new $20 million, 75,000 sf facility brings the chemistry, physics, astronomy, life sciences, geology, water/wastewater technology, nursing, physical therapy and occupational therapy fields together under one roof for an interdisciplinary approach to science education.

The Science Center design incorporated sustainable elements such as natural lighting, native landscaping, and energy efficient equipment and systems. The new building is co-located with the new Technology Center.
